Rowland Hall was originally built in 1939 as the campus lab school for the elementary education program at SU. The lab school allowed university students majoring in education to observe actual teaching of elementary students in the Shippensburg Area School District. Rowland Hall, in the historic part of campus at the intersection of North Prince Street and Adams Drive, is the first academic building one sees as you enter the main campus entrance.
